Making Europe Real: Brussels Experience - Kristel & Tuuli from Estonia
Our podcast journey through Europe continues in Estonia, where Kristel and Tuuli two students at Kuressaare Ametikool, share their personal European experience.
While Tuuli is a pro of European projects, participating in mobilities in Latvia and Finland, for Kristel, a visual media technology student, the Brussels trip was a leap into the unknown. Together, they represent the diverse range of experiences that EUClass Alliance brings together.
For the Estonian students the historical context of the EU was really important. Visiting the Parliament allowed them to trace the timeline of how Europe reached its current state. For Tuuli, the result was a newfound confidence: "I feel much more comfortable discussing European institutions now than I did a week ago."
One of the most praised aspects of the trip were the International Dinners. These evenings allowed students to showcase their own traditions and, interestingly, debate their linguistic quirks. "We spent a lot of time discussing accents," Tuuli recalls. "We even gave everyone a demonstration of what a 'typical' Estonian accent sounds like!"
A Practical Tip for the Future: Returning home tired but inspired, the two have one vital piece of advice for the next cohort of students: Bring good walking shoes.
Between the Parliament halls and the city tours, the physical toll is real, but the reward is greater. Their final message is a call to action for every VET student: "Just say yes. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
