Highlights from the EUCLASS Alliance Webinars

This may we hosted two successful webinars aimed at empowering VET (Vocational Education and Training) educators across Europe with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to bring EU topics into their classrooms. These events are part of our broader mission to make EU citizenship education more engaging and accessible to students in vocational training.

Our first webinar, held on 7th May 2025, served as an official introduction to the EUCLASS Online Course. Participants were guided through the course’s objectives, structure, and teaching materials.
The course, developed by the University of Trento and hosted on a dedicated learning platform by Eurocultura, is designed to:

  • Provide foundational knowledge of the EU’s history and institutions
  • Explore key EU policy areas such as the Single Market, sustainability, foreign affairs, and democracy
  • Offer flexible, self-paced learning supported by video lectures, quizzes, and supplementary teaching resources

The second webinar, hosted on 23 May 2025, focused on helping educators translate EU topics into engaging classroom activities. Led by experts from the University of Trento, this session introduced real-world case studies and pedagogical strategies tied to the course modules.

For example, following the module on EU decision-making, presenters used the EU’s regulation on USB-C chargers to demonstrate how EU law impacts daily life. Regional customizations—such as case studies on defence for Northern Europe and migration for Southern partners—were shared to enhance local relevance.

A Course Built for the Classroom

The EUCLASS Online Course is structured around two main modules:

  • Module 1: History of EU Integration & Institutions – covering the evolution of the EU, the function of its main bodies, and how laws are made.
  • Module 2: EU Policies and Actions – addressing themes such as the Single Market, climate action, foreign policy, borders, and European values.

Each lesson includes a short video, additional learning materials, and a quiz to reinforce key concepts. Simulations and interactive tools are included to help students better understand how the EU works—and why it matters.
